FDA Releases Pesticide Residue Monitoring Report
The findings show that the levels of pesticide chemical residues measured by FDA in the U.S. food supply are generally in compliance with EPA pesticide tolerances. The report is available here.

FDA Issues First Injunction Under Produce Safety Rule to Illinois-based Food Manufacturer for Repeated Food Safety Violations
Fortune Food Product, Inc., an Illinois-based processor of sprouts and soy products, has agreed to stop production until it, among other things, undertakes remedial action and complies with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The action marks the first consent decree of permanent injunction against a firm or grower for violating public safety standards under the Produce Safety Rule enacted under the Food Safety Modernization Act of 2011. USDA Releases Final Rule on Brucellosis and Bovine Tuberculosis: Importation of Cattle and Bison
USDA is amending the regulations governing the importation of cattle and bison with respect to bovine tuberculosis and brucellosis to establish a system to classify foreign regions as a particular status level for bovine tuberculosis and a particular status level for brucellosis. The agency is also establishing provisions for modifying the bovine tuberculosis or brucellosis classification of a foreign region. The rule also establishes conditions for the importation of cattle and bison from regions with the various classifications. More information here.
