Investigation of Adverse Event Reports: French Lentil & Leek Crumbles
The FDA, along with CDC and state and local partners, is investigating consumer complaints of gastrointestinal illness and abnormal liver function that may be attributable to eating Daily Harvest French Lentil & Leek Crumbles frozen product.
On June 17, 2022, in response to consumer complaints submitted to the company, Daily Harvest voluntarily initiated a recall of their French Lentil & Leek Crumbles. In response to Consumer Adverse Event Reports (CAERS) and Consumer Complaints submitted to the FDA, the FDA has initiated an investigation, including an inspection and sample collection in an effort to determine the cause of illnesses. Request for Information on Bristol Bay Red King Crab and Eastern Bering Sea Snow Crab Mortality Mitigation Measures

FDA Continues to Implement Law, Regulate Non-Tobacco Nicotine Products, Warns Retailers and Manufacturers Against Illegal Sales
Recently, a growing number of companies–including manufacturers of some of the e-cigarette brands most popular with kids–began using synthetic nicotine to make their products in an attempt to evade the FDA’s regulation. An important new federal law went into effect in April clarifying FDA’s authority to regulate tobacco products containing nicotine from any source, including synthetic nicotine, and the agency continues to implement the law.
USDA Invests More Than $14M to Support Agricultural Workforce Training for Historically Underserved Communities
USDA announced an additional investment of more than $14 million to support agricultural workforce training in historically underserved communities that will increase the resilience of the U.S. meat and poultry processing sector. This investment is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s ongoing efforts through the American Rescue Plan to strengthen the nation’s food supply chain by promoting fair and competitive agricultural markets.
FDA Releases a Public Registry of Recognized Accreditation Bodies under the Laboratory Accreditation for Analyses of Foods Program
FDA announced its recognition of six accreditation bodies under the Laboratory Accreditation for Analyses of Foods (LAAF) program. USDA Makes It Easier for American Farmers to Grow Food, Ease Burdens for American Families
The Biden Administration announced additional steps it’s taking to support U.S. farmers in their work to stabilize food prices and feed Americans and the world amidst continuing challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. USDA is reducing the economic risk of raising two crops on the same land in one year, making it easier for U.S. farmers to grow food in America, increase food supply, and lower food costs for American families.
