FTC Social Media Order Seeking Information on Efforts to Address Fraudulent Advertising and Scams
The Federal Trade Commission has issued orders to eight social media and video streaming platforms seeking information on how these companies scrutinize and restrict paid commercial advertising that is deceptive or exposes consumers to fraudulent health-care products, financial scams, counterfeit and fake goods, or other fraud. The Commission also is seeking information about how the social media and video streaming companies ensure that consumers are able to identify commercial advertising on their platforms as advertising.
User Fees for Agricultural Quarantine and Inspection Services
USDA is amending their regulations governing the user fees charged for certain Agricultural Quarantine and Inspection (AQI) services. USDA is reducing the fees charged to remove surcharges that were intended to fund a reserve. This action is necessary in order to ensure the regulations reflect an operational reduction of AQI fees that was announced through a November 1, 2022, Stakeholder Registry announcement, issued to comply with a September 15, 2022, judgment of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and which took effect on December 1, 2022.
Revised FSIS Directive on Inspection of Imported Siluriformes Fish and Fish Products
This directive instructs inspection program personnel on how to perform import reinspection at official import inspection establishments that receive shipments of Siluriformes fish. This directive has been updated to remove language related to the initial transition of Siluriformes fish to FSIS jurisdiction and to remove the requirement that each shipment of fish that is offered for import into the United States must be accompanied by a paper import inspection application.
