FDA PFAS to Phase Out in Food Packaging
FDA has announced that grease-proofing substances containing Per and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) are no longer being sold by manufacturers for food contact use in the U.S. market. The completion of the voluntary market phase-out of these substances used on food packaging paper and paperboard, eliminates the primary source of dietary exposure to PFAS from authorized food contact uses.
FTC Issues Final Rule on Impersonation of Government and Businesses
This final rule prohibits the impersonation of government, businesses, and their officials or agents in interstate commerce. Notably it prohibits both impersonation and misrepresenting being endorsed or affiliated with another business or the U.S. government.
APHIS to Allow Importation of Ugu Leaves From Nigeria Into the U.S.
USDA is advising the public of their decision to authorize the importation of fresh Ugu leaves (Telfairia occidentalis Hook.f.) from Nigeria into the continental United States. Based on findings of a pest risk analysis, which USDA made available to the public for review and comment through a previous notice, USDA has determined that the application of one or more designated phytosanitary measures will be sufficient to mitigate the risks of introducing or disseminating plant pests or noxious weeds via the importation of fresh Ugu leaves from Nigeria.
